Retired Bishop: Biden's Kenya Constitution Support 'Invites Canonical Censure'

"Perhaps God, who knows whether or not Biden’s brain was permanently damaged by his brain surgery, will not judge him too harshly, but the Church, which does not have that kind of knowledge should certainly speak out and reprimand him."
Bishop Rene Gracida

Bishop Rene Henry Gracida, Bishop Emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Corpus Christi, has called for a canonical reprimand against U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. Biden, a Catholic, recently travelled to Kenya to lobby for the country's proposed constitution, which has been strenuously opposed by pro-life groups due to its pro-abortion language.

Biden told a crowd earlier this month that the Kenya government should adopt the new constitution in order "to allow money to flow" to Kenya from other countries.

When asked about the lobbying of U.S. pro-life groups against the document, Biden told religious leaders that the Obama administration did not share the position of such groups, and said that their activites are "one of the drawbacks of democracy."

Bishop Gracida wrote on his blog Saturday that Biden "has crossed the line as a Catholic" by supporting the document.

"Now he has taken a stand on Kenya’s proposed new constitution, a stand which is probably a violation of US law and a stand that is certainly immoral," wrote the retired bishop. "Perhaps God, who knows whether or not Biden’s brain was permanently damaged by his brain surgery, will not judge him too harshly, but the Church, which does not have that kind of knowledge should certainly speak out and reprimand him."

Then-senator Biden underwent two operations in 1988 to correct intracranial aneurysms.

Last month, three U.S. congressmen with legal oversight jurisdiction over foreign funds launched a probe to determine whether the Obama administration has violated federal law by using taxpayer money to promote the pro-abortion constitution.

Biden Promises Kenya 'Money to Flow' if Pro-Abort Constitution Passes

Joe Biden's career was summed up best by Hadley Arkes in a column titled "The Rise of an Empty Man."

Do you remember his indignation in
this interview when it was suggested during the campaign that an Obama administration might advance socialism?

He has always reminded us of Richard Rich, who betrayed Saint Thomas More and sold his soul to become Attorney General for Wales. To paraphrase More, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world, but for the Vice Presidency?

Now the leftists that once decried American "imperialism" are attempting to impose the "culture of death" on African nations, and in the political whore that is Joe Biden, they have the perfect messenger.

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden travelled to Kenya to personally urge the country to pass a new constitution that would legalize abortion - and to assure Kenyans that such a change would "allow money to flow" from foreign aid treasuries.

At the same time, a federal probe is ongoing to determine whether the Obama administration is violating federal law by using taxpayer money to lobby for a constitution that is deeply controversial in Kenya in large part because of its abortion provisions.

"We are hopeful, Barack Obama is hopeful, I am hopeful that you will carry out these reforms to allow money to flow," Biden told a crowd of Kenyans, among whom President Obama is extremely popular and touted as a native son of their country.

A clause in the proposed constitution has received heavy criticism from religious leaders in Kenya for allowing abortion when a mother's "health" is endangered - a term that, as abortion advocates admitted at the Women Deliver conference in Washington, D.C. last week, "can be broadly interpreted when need be."

Asked about the abortion issue, Biden told Rev. Timothy Njoya not to “confuse that with the position of the US President, US Vice President and US Government," according to Kenya's Daily Nation.

Yet some are not so sure that such a line can be drawn: last month, three U.S. congressmen with legal oversight jurisdiction over federal international funds launched a probe into whether the Obama administration is violating federal law by promoting the controversial constitution.

“The Obama Administration’s advocacy in support of Kenya’s proposed constitution may constitute a serious violation of the Siljander Amendment and, as such, may be subject to civil and criminal penalties under the Antideficiency Act," wrote Reps. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) in a May 6 letter to Inspectors General of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

The Siljander Amendment of the State, Foreign Operations Appropriations Act, reads: “None of the funds made available under this Act may be used to lobby for or against abortion."

The lawmakers pointed out that the abortion issue is prominent in the public debate over the proposed document, and that the chairman of Kenya’s Committee of Experts on Constitutional Review identified abortion as "one of the four most contentious issues in the proposed constitution.”

Rep. Smith said that as much as $10 million in taxpayer funds may have been spent in support of the pro-abortion constitution as of May.

Thug to Thug: "A Big F__king Deal!"

When you never have an unspoken thought, sometimes you get it right. It's a "big f__king deal to have foisted on the American people a transformation of our country they thoroughly reject -- a takeover of our economy, the destruction of a major industry, the trampling of the U. S. Constitution and American freedoms, and forced payments for state-sanctioned infanticide. A "big f__king deal" indeed!

Biden's Gaffes Undercut Obama

Perhaps it's time to let Neil Kinnock write all his material. But would the plagiarized speeches be as entertaining as his "off the cuff" comments?

From The Washington Times
By Jon Ward

The Obama White House's vaunted message machine has been thrown off-track with increasing regularity by Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., whose five verbal missteps in the past three months have created obstacles at home and abroad.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was forced Sunday to correct publicly Mr. Biden's characterization of Russia as a crumbling country, a description that infuriated Russian officials and contradicted President Obama's efforts to "reset" relations with the world power.

Bishop Battles for Orthodoxy in Scranton, Pennsylvania

From The Washington Times
By Kathy Matheson

The bishop's threat was almost incomprehensible. In this heavily Roman Catholic city, where tens of thousands of people pack downtown for the annual St. Patrick's parade, Mass would be canceled that day if organizers honored an abortion-rights supporter.

The warning _ seen by some as a reference to Vice President Joe Biden, a native son _ was the latest in a series of tough stands by Bishop Joseph Martino, who is establishing himself as one of the nation's most outspoken defenders of Catholic orthodoxy.

Joe Biden Warned Us!

"Mark my words, It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America.

Watch. We're going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

A
nyone have any confidence in "the mettle"?

Obama Throws Biden Under the Bus

From The Telegraph
By Toby Harnden, US Editor

Pity poor Joe Biden. His "there's still a 30 percent chance we're going to get it wrong" quote is put straight to President Barack Obama during the White House press conference just now and his boss seemed to want to say: "Vice-President Who?"

As reporters started giggling, Obama came close to conceding that Biden was indeed a joke. "You know, I don't remember exactly what Joe was referring to, not surprisingly."

The President went on to say that "I think what Joe may have been suggesting, although I wouldn't ascribe any numerical percentage to any of this, is that given the magnitude of the challenges that we have, any single thing that we do is going to be part of the solution, not all of the solution."

Of course, Biden wasn't saying anything of the sort - Obama knew that and all the rest of us did too.

Biden's exact quote, read out by Fox's Major Garrett at the presser was: "If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, if we stand up there and we really make the tough decisions, there's still a 30 percent chance we're going to get it wrong."

Clearly, Obama and his aides were unhappy about Biden's loose lips. On Friday, top Obama adviser David Axelrod said on CNN: "I don't know exactly about what that math was."

We're probably going to have to get used to Obama explaining "what Joe may have been suggesting". And Biden must be wondering if he's going to end up as a Dan Quayle figure.
