Gingrich Describes 'Faith Journey' at National Catholic Prayer Breakfast

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich who recently shared his faith journey with the National Catholic Register, today delivered the following address to the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.

I’d like to thank Leonard Leo, President of the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast for the opportunity to be here today.

I must confess that while I have given many speeches the prospect of a convert addressing an audience with this many years experience in Catholicism is among the most daunting I have faced. Callista likes to point out that unlike her father I have not participated in enough Knights of Columbus pancake breakfasts to justify giving a speech like this.

I hope you will welcome me home and permit this relatively new convert to share a few thoughts about John Paul the Great.

Newt Gingrich: Freedom Will Prevail

Our previous president foolishly characterized America's war with radical Islam as a "war on terrorism," while calling the hateful ideology behind the terror the "religion of peace." That is like characterizing America's war against Nazism as a war on blitzkriegs. Of even greater concern, the current president sympathizes with our enemies and refuses to even acknowledge acts of terrorism.

In the following clip Newt Gingrich eloquently and rightly assesses the historic challenge confronting America and western civilization.

'Nine Days That Changed The World' Premieres in Krakow, Warsaw, and Rome

Newt and Callista Gingrich, in partnership with Citizens United Productions and Peace River Company, will premiere their new documentary, Nine Days that Changed the World, next week in Krakow, Warsaw and Rome.

The film will premiere at the Lagiewniki Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Krakow on June 8, at the Royal Castle in Warsaw on June 9, and finally at the Pontifical North American College in Rome on June 12.

Nine Days that Changed the World explores Pope John Paul II's historic nine-day pilgrimage to Poland in June of 1979, which created a revolution of conscience that transformed Poland and fundamentally reshaped the spiritual and political landscape of the 20th Century.

Newt and Callista Gingrich, along with a Polish, American, and Italian cast, explore what transpired during these nine days that moved the Polish people to renew their hearts, reclaim their courage, and free themselves from the shackles of Communism.

Millions of Poles, almost one third of the nation, turned out to see the Holy Father in person, while the rest of the country followed his pilgrimage on television and radio. Within sixteen months, Solidarity became the first officially recognized free trade union in the Communist bloc, with over 10 million members. The momentum of this nine-day visit would eventually lead to the fall of the Berlin Wall in November of 1989 and the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Featuring exclusive interviews with George Weigel, Michael Novak, John O'Sullivan, Jerzy Kluger, Father Adam Boniecki, Father Leon Knabit, Monsignor Jaroslaw Cielecki, Father Jan Andrzej Kloczowski, Father Thomas D. Williams, Father Wojciech Giertych, President Lech Walesa, President Vaclav Havel, Polish Free Trade Union Leaders Krzysztof Wyszkowski and Anna Walentynowicz, Former Director of Central Intelligence James Woolsey, and Secretary Jim Nicholson.

Nine Days that Changed the World is a story of human liberation, revealing the extraordinary power of Pope John Paul II's worldwide message of freedom through faith.

Newt Gingrich Delivers a Stunning Speech to Party Faithful

Newt Gingrich gave a stunning and thoughtful keynote speech to the 2009 GOP Senate/House Fundraising Dinner last night. Rich in historical perspective, it called the party back to core principles and reminded all Republicans that with all his foibles, Newt Gingrich is one of the party's best thinkers, with so much yet to contribute. He is precisely what is needed in the position of GOP national chairman. I strongly recommend that all Republicans hear this great speech.

Newt Gingrich Steps Up Efforts to Mobilize Religious Conservatives

The former House speaker has launched a group that aims to unite social and economic conservatives

From U.S. News & World Report
By Dan Gilgoff

At a time when many religious conservatives say the Republican Party is ignoring their issues and taking their support for granted, former House speaker and GOP idea man Newt Gingrich is turning his attention to the concerns of conservative Christians like never before.

Gingrich has launched an organization devoted to bringing conservative evangelicals and Catholics into the political process and to strengthening the frayed alliance between economic and religious conservatives. Called Renewing American Leadership, the group is led by Gingrich's longtime communications director and includes some of the country's top conservative Christian activists on its board.

This spring, Gingrich will speak to a handful of large gatherings for politically conservative clergy that have been organized by David Barton, an influential evangelical activist who spearheaded the Republican National Committee's rigorous outreach to pastors in 2004.

And this fall, Gingrich is planning to release a movie about the role that Pope John Paul II's 1979 trip to Poland played in bringing down the Soviet Union.

"In the last few years I've decided that we're in a crisis in which the secular state, if allowed, will fundamentally and radically change America against the wishes of most Americans," Gingrich said in a phone interview on Thursday. "You've had such rising hostility to religious belief that I wanted to reach broadly into the country and dramatically raise public awareness of threats to religious liberty."

Newt Gingrich on America's "Phoney War"

"Let's be clear; we have two choices. We can find a way to be reasonable and surrender, or we can defeat them"
