Federal drill to focus on response to terror

Agents for Mexico soon could be roaming the roads of several southern states – along with representatives of Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom – under a Federal Emergency Management Agency exercise that is going to focus "exclusively on terrorism prevention and protection."

The event is called National Level Exercise 2009 and is part of an annual series of exercises formerly called TOPOFF, for Top Officials, under the National Exercise Program that "serves as the nation's overarching exercise program for planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating national level exercises."

The idea has some bloggers stunned.

"Imagine, armed Mexican troops protecting us from 'terrorism' in the United States! Don't you feel safer already? ¿Dónde están sus documentos?" wrote an alarmed blogger at TargetFreedom.

Dare We Wait?

Across the generations millions of Americans, upon entering military and government service, have sworn an oath to:

Having taken this oath, what responsibilities do our national leaders have when the President of the United States refuses to defend the Constitution, the sovereignty of the nation, and even permits our borders to be overrun by foreign nationals and terrorists? And what responsibilities do concerned citizens have?

Over at Gates of Vienna there is a thoughtful and disturbing post entitled The Piecemeal Surrender of Sovereignty, describing how this President has presided over the systematic undoing of the American nation. It includes this disturbing revelation:

Congressional investigators set up a bogus company with only a postal box and within a month obtained a license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that allowed them to buy enough radioactive material for a small “dirty bomb.”

Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., who will ask the NRC about the incident at a Senate hearing Thursday, said the sting operation raises concerns about terrorists obtaining such material just as easily.

Nobody at the NRC checked whether the company was legitimate and an agency official even helped the investigators fill out the application form, Coleman said in an interview Wednesday.

America has risen up in defiance of national leaders over amnesty for illegal aliens. Can we wait until January 2009 for a President who will defend the nation against those who would commit mass murder?
