Your Children Belong To The State, Comrades

Here it comes -- the assault on American liberties and the idea that government is "of, by, and for the people."

We were accused of being irresponsible and vitriolic when we suggested that the incoming national regime will be fascist and abusive of individual liberty. But only days after the election, the new regime has made clear their intentions -- all American youths will be required to become the indentured servants of the state. They will learn before they finish high school that they exist to serve the almighty state.

Go ahead, check it out on Snopes, but they've got that covered. It's
controlled by the new regime too.

According to the website where the regime's manifesto is detailed, our new masters will:

Integrate Service into Learning

  • Expand Service-Learning in Our Nation's Schools: Obama and Biden will set a goal that all middle and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year. They will develop national guidelines for service- learning and will give schools better tools both to develop programs and to document student experience. Green Job Corps: Obama and Biden will create an energy-focused youth jobs program to provide disadvantaged youth with service opportunities weatherizing buildings and getting practical experience in fast-growing career fields.
  • Require 100 Hours of Service in College: Obama and Biden will establish a new American Opportunity Tax Credit that is worth $4,000 a year in exchange for 100 hours of public service a year.
  • Promote College Serve-Study: Obama and Biden will ensure that at least 25 percent of College Work-Study funds are used to support public service opportunities instead of jobs in dining halls and libraries.
Questions remain as to whether "all schools" includes home schools, private schools, and faith-based schools. What penalties will be imposed on a mother refusing to allow her 12 year old to perform his service in the Obama Youth? If parents refuse the state's claims on their child, will that child be taken from them? And do you think that those whose religion is government will allow a student to perform his service to the state through his or her local church?

This is only the beginning, Comrades.

What this amounts to is slave labor in the disguise of community service or volunteerism.

Do you know how self centered the majority of today's youths are? (apologies to those who truly aren't) Most of them wouldn't even think to say please or thank you when appropriate. While it may turn out to bit over reaching in it's desired scope, the idea is great and I hope some of this does come to pass. My high school alma mater implemented a community service requirement a couple of years ago for graduation and it's opened the eyes of many students to what's going on around them, in their own community.

Is it really so bad to make them turn off the TV, computer or video games for 1 hour a week to interact with fellow human beings?

If you think so, maybe you should try a little community service yourself.
