Pat Buchanan - Putin: Friend or Foe in Syria?
By Patrick J. Buchanan
What Vladimir Putin is up to in Syria makes far more sense than what Barack Obama and John Kerry appear to be up to in Syria.
The Russians are flying transports bringing tanks and troops to an air base near the coastal city of Latakia to create a supply chain to provide a steady flow of weapons and munitions to the Syrian army.
Syrian President Bashar Assad, an ally of Russia, has lost half his country to ISIS and the Nusra Front, a branch of al-Qaida.
Putin fears that if Assad falls, Russia’s toehold in Syria and the Mediterranean will be lost, ISIS and al-Qaida will be in Damascus, and Islamic terrorism will have achieved its greatest victory.
Is he wrong?

Philadelphia Hotels Slashing Prices for Pope's Visit
This is what happens when you visit a country and refuse to speak the native language;
you attack the economic system as "unfettered capitalism," a system
that has given the broadest numbers the highest standard of living in
the world; you encourage disregard for your host country's sovereignty, laws and borders; you foment controversy and division over the immutable
doctrines of your Church; you endorse the "sustainable development
goals" of the Marxist UN that call for decimating the world's
population; you embrace the junk science of radical leftists and
charlatans who seek power and money; and the followers of your Church
begin to see you as lacking all authority because you, like the
President you have come to embrace, are an enemy of that which you
purport to lead.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia's hotel industry said Friday there's still plenty of room at the inn for Pope Francis' visit this month.
About 3,000 of the 11,200 rooms in the city's downtown were still available two weeks away from the pontiff's Sept. 26 arrival, said Ed Grose, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association.
Hotels were slashing rates, skipping minimum stay requirements and tossing in extras like subway tokens and bags full of Philadelphia-centric snacks to lure guests for the two-day visit.

Christian LeBlanc's Summapalooza 2015, Class 4
This is the fourth class in Christian LeBlanc's catechetical series which uses the Bible to teach the Catholic faith. LeBlanc, a deeply knowledgeable and effective catechist and evangelizer, offers profound insights into Holy Scripture and the
doctrines of the Church which will profoundly enrich your spiritual life.
Summapalooza was part of an adult education program offered by Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville, South Carolina.
Christian LeBlanc is a revert whose pre-Vatican II childhood was spent in South Louisiana, where he marinated in a Catholic universe and acquired a Catholic imagination. During his middle school years in South Carolina, Christian was catechized under the benevolent dictatorship of Sister Mary Alphonsus, who frequently admonished him using the nickname “Little Pagan.” After four years of teaching Adult Ed and RCIA, he returned to Sr. Alphonsus’ old classroom to teach Catechism himself. This is his 12th year of teaching sixth grade.
Married to Janet, the LeBlancs have five children and two grandsons. He is the author of the highly acclaimed The Bible Tells Me So: A Year of Catechizing Directly from Scripture, on which these talks are based.

Pat Buchanan: Kim Davis vs. Judicial Tyranny
By Patrick J. Buchanan
“If the law supposes that, the law is a ass — a idiot.”
Charles Dickens gave that line to Mr. Bumble in “Oliver Twist.”
And it sums up the judgment of Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis about the Supreme Court’s Obergefell decision, which said the 14th Amendment guarantees same-sex couples the right to marry.
Davis refused to provide marriage licenses to gay couples lined up at her clerk’s office and was sent to jail for five days by a federal judge for contempt of court.
Good for her. We need more like her.
For behind her defiance are more authoritative sources than the five justices who gave us Obergefell: the Old and New Testaments, Natural Law, two millennia of Christian teaching and tradition, and the entire body of U.S. federal and state law up to Y2K.
