Britain's Bishops at War: Head of Catholics Leads Furious Backlash after Archbishop of Canterbury's Attack on Coalition

By James Chapman and Steve Doughty

The Archbishop of Canterbury is embroiled in an extraordinary war with David Cameron and rival Church leaders after a bitter attack on the Government.

In the most brazen political intervention by a head of the Church of England for more than two decades, Dr Rowan Williams questioned the democratic legitimacy of the Coalition.

He claimed 'no one voted' for flagship policies on welfare, health and education, which he said were causing 'anxiety and anger'.

The remarks prompted a furious backlash from the Prime Minister and the leader of England's Roman Catholics, Archbishop Vincent Nichols. Dr Williams's attack came in a leading article for the Left-wing New Statesman magazine which he had been invited to guest-edit.

Dr Rowan Williams, left, sparked a furious backlash from the Prime Minister and head of the Catholic Church in Britain, Archbishop Vincent Nichols
He dismissed Mr Cameron's Big Society initiative as 'painfully stale' and condemned 'punitive' action against 'alleged abuses' in the benefits system.

The Archbishop also accused ministers of encouraging a 'quiet resurgence of the seductive language of “deserving” and “undeserving” poor'.

Obama's Undeclared War on America

By Geoffrey P. Hunt

Republican US House Speaker John Boehner, and US Senate Foreign Relations Committee ranking minority member Richard Lugar, are both obsessed with bringing President Obama to account under the War Powers Act for his intervention in Libya.

Libya is typical of Obama's foreign policy: timid, tardy, aloof, and counterproductive. Accordingly, the outcome from Obama's Libyan humanitarian adventure has been predictable, needlessly adding over $1 billion to the US federal deficit while emboldening a stalemate benefitting Gaddafi, who continues to inflict civilian casualties with impunity.

Pressure Builds on Weiner to Resign

Embattled New York Rep. Anthony Weiner's prospects for political survival dimmed precipitously on Wednesday with the appearance on the Internet of an X-rated photo said to be of the congressman — and the first calls from fellow Democrats for him to step down.

Jack Cashill: 'Deconstructing Obama'

Barack Hussein Obama is incapable of making a few gracious welcoming remarks at small White House events without the help of a teleprompter.  So it should not be surprising that the memoir, on which the Obama myth is built, was written by someone else.

In Deconstructing Obama: The Life, Loves, and Letters of America's First Postmodern President, independent writer and producer Jack Cashill demonstrates that the Obama memoir is a fabrication written by Obama's neighborhood comrade, the domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.

Pro-Life Catholic Elected Speaker of Canada’s Parliament

Andrew Scheer, a 32-year-old Catholic and father of four from Saskatchewan, has been elected the youngest speaker in the history of Canada’s Parliament.

Described by a Canadian pro-life newspaper as a “passionate social conservative” who is “unabashedly pro-life,” Scheer has spoken out against same-sex marriage. Scheer faced criticism from some of his colleagues in 2010 when he invited Opus Dei’s vicar for Canada to the Parliament’s restaurant.

Democrat Family Values: Weiner Supported Protecting Kids from Predators Like Him

Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY)
Internet sexual predator, liar and Democrat Congressman Anthony Weiner conducted "a study that found that over 85% of registered sex offenders in New York City live less than five blocks from schools, and 670 sex offenders live within just two blocks" according to a post on the Congressman's website.

With first-hand knowledge, the recently exposed Twitter flasher acknowledged that "the Internet is the predator's venue of choice today."

I once had the opportunity to debate Congressman Weiner at a Queens public school on the details and merits of The No Child Left Behind Act. Now, I simply wonder if there are any schools in close proximity to this degenerate.

Only days ago he called a respectful reporter a "jackass," falsely claimed his Twitter account had been hacked, blamed Andrew Breitbart and others for a set-up, and it appears there is more to this story than has yet been revealed.

The Democrat Party has embraced abortion, sodomy and death panels; unless they insist that Anthony Weiner resign, they will also become the party of Internet predators trolling for your children.

The following is from Weiner's website:

Protecting Children On the Internet

In early 2007 my office did a study that found that over 85% of registered sex offenders in New York City live less than five blocks from schools, and 670 sex offenders live within just two blocks. Some offenders are even closer, permanently residing less than 500 feet away from unwitting parents, educators and children.
Along with several colleagues in Congress, we introduced & passed the KIDS (Keeping the Internet Devoid of Sexual Predators) Act of 2007, a bill to require sex offenders to register their e-mail and instant message addresses with the National Sex Offender Registry. The “Kids Act’ implemented one of my six recommendations to keep a closer eye on sex offenders both near school grounds and online. I also proposed stricter GPS tracking of sex offenders, tougher enforcement of registration laws and more public disclosure of sex offender data.
Sadly, the Internet is the predator's venue of choice today. We need to update our strategies and our laws to stop these offenders who are a mere click away from our children.

Maryland Parish to Spearhead Anglican Ordinariate in US

Cardinal Donald Wuerl is overseeing the creation of a Personal Ordinariate in America
Saint Luke's Parish in Bladensburg, Maryland has announced its intention to be the first Episcopalian parish in the United States to come into communion with the Catholic Church since Pope Benedict permitted the establishment of national Anglican Ordinariates to acomodate former Anglican parishes seeking to enter the Catholic Church as a congregation.

The Saint Luke's community has obtained the permission of Episcopal Bishop John Chane of Washington to continue worshiping in their current church under a lease with an option to buy.  They are also working closely with the Catholic Archbishop of Washington, Cardinal Wuerl, who is overseeing the establishment of the Ordinariate in the United States.

In England, three bishops, sixty priests, and nearly one thousand lay people have already been received into the Catholic Church through the Ordinariate established in that country.  Ordinariates are also being formed in Canada and Australia.

Saint Luke's parish announced its historic decision on the parish website:

We Are Ordinariate Bound!

+Welcome to St. Luke's Ordinariate Catholic Community website! It is with great joy St. Luke's announces its intention to join the Personal Ordinariate of the Roman Catholic Church. We have been discerning the leading of the Holy Spirit since the Holy Father's announcement of Anglicanorum coetibus in October of 2009. Since that time we have been in close dialogue with both the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and the Archdiocese Washington.

Over the next few months the people of St. Luke's Ordinariate Catholic Community will undergo formal preparation to become Roman Catholics. This formal preparation will take place at St. Luke's primarily on Sunday's at 9:00am, and on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm. If you are interested in joining the people of St. Luke's on this journey you are encouraged and welcomed to attend.

We are deeply grateful to Cardinal Wuerl and to Bishop Chane for their support throughout this discernment. We look forward to continuing to worship in the Anglican tradition, while at the same time being in full communion with the Holy See of Peter.

These are exciting times! We will endeavor to keep you up to date with any information concerning our community and with the Ordinariate. Please browse through our website for the latest information.
