Pope to Say D.C. Mass in Spanish in Bow to 'Hispanic Population'

The decision by Pope Francis to say his Washington, D.C. Mass in Spanish is the latest outrage in a Papacy marked by missteps, misstatements and confusion bordering on apostasy.  His expressed but denied wish to cross into the United States from Mexico the way millions of illegal aliens have done is rude and offensive and should be condemned by all Americans.

As a guest in the United States, Jorge Bergoglio should respect the fact that this is an English-speaking nation, as are a majority of American Catholics.  As the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church and Vicar of Christ, he should butt out of political issues like U.S. immigration policy and the UN Millenium Development Goals.   These are policy matters that are appropriate to the purview of laymen, and on which laymen may legitimately disagree.  What other nation has open borders?  Has the Vatican opened its doors to Europe's massive influx of Middle Eastern and Muslim refugees?

True Popes focus on the freedom, dignity, and most importantly, the salvation of souls, not junk science and the Democrat Party's Marxist agenda.

One cannot imagine this Pope's great and holy predecessors, Saint Pope John Paul II  or the beloved Benedict XVI, disrespecting their host nations by saying Mass in the language of illegal, foreign invaders.  We have been reluctant to publicly criticize this disastrous and destructive pontificate, but this is a step too far.  His is a political and ideological agenda we will never condone or support.  We pray that God, in His mercy, will send the Church a conclave.  In the meantime, American Catholics should consider the Peter's Pence and other collections as being for Pesos only.

If you share our outrage and disgust at this latest affront, please consider sharing your views with the Pope's official representative to the United States, the Papal Nuncio at nuntiususa@nuntiususa.org.

Benedict XVI Celebrates Mass with Former Students

Benedict XVI (CNS)
Benedict XVI focused his homily on the importance of finding 'truth, love and goodness' in God

Celebrating Mass with his former doctoral students and a new generation of scholars of his work, Benedict XVI focused his homily on the importance of finding “truth, love and goodness” in God.

Now 88, Benedict has met annually since the 1970s with what is known as the “Ratzinger Schulerkreis” (Ratzinger Student Circle), which is made up of bishops and scholars who earned their doctorates under him in Germany.

The schulerkreis gathers for a week of theological discussions; the topic this year was “How to speak about God today” and was by Mgr Tomas Halik, a Czech theologian and winner of the 2014 Templeton Prize.

Tacoma 'Taps'

Every night at sundown, just south of Seattle, if you listen closely, you might hear more than just the birds. It's one man's, one-minute subtle tribute to others in a way you might not expect.

Christian LeBlanc's Summapalooza, Class 2: "Umbrella of the LORD"

This is the second class in Christian LeBlanc's catechetical series which uses the Bible to teach the Catholic faith.  LeBlanc, a deeply knowledgeable and effective catechist and evangelizer, offers profound insights into Holy Scripture and the doctrines of the Church which will profoundly enrich your spiritual life. Summapalooza was part of an adult education program offered by Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville, South Carolina.

Christian LeBlanc is a revert whose pre-Vatican II childhood was spent in South Louisiana, where he marinated in a Catholic universe and acquired a Catholic imagination. During his middle school years in South Carolina, Christian was catechized under the benevolent dictatorship of Sister Mary Alphonsus, who frequently admonished him using the nickname “Little Pagan.” After four years of teaching Adult Ed and RCIA, he returned to Sr. Alphonsus’ old classroom to teach Catechism himself. This is his 12th year of teaching sixth grade.

Married to Janet, the LeBlancs have five children and two grandsons. He is the author of the highly acclaimed The Bible Tells Me So: A Year of Catechizing Directly from Scripture, on which these talks are based.

Pat Buchanan: Dis-Integrating America

By Patrick J. Buchanan

The Wednesday morning murders of 24-year-old Roanoke TV reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were a racist atrocity, a hate crime. Were they not white, they would be alive today.

Their killer, Vester L. Flanagan II, said as much in his farewell screed. He ordered his murder weapon, he said, two days after the slaughter of nine congregants at the African-American AME church in Charleston, South Carolina.

“What sent me over the top was the church shooting,” said Flanagan.

To be sure, racism does not fully explain why Flanagan, fired from that same WDBJ7 station, committed this act of pure evil.

Black and homosexual, he said he was the target of anti-gay slurs from black males and racial insults from white colleagues. He had gotten himself fired from other jobs in broadcasting. He carried a grab bag of grudges and resentments.
