Ding Dong Sebelius is Gone!

Couldn't run a federal department, couldn't create a website, couldn't collate the pages of a speech, but she thought she knew how to run your life.

A Queen in Obamaland

By Patrick J. Buchanan

The pots and pans are clanging for the ouster of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius as the Obamacare website rollout takes on the aspect of that of the Edsel.

Yet, though it is a website that has America laughing, Obama’s legacy legislation itself could, in its entirety, be in peril. As ex-pilot George W. Bush used to say, this thing looks like a five-spiral crash.

Republicans are clamoring for Sebelius’s firing.

Herewith, a dissent. Why not leave her right where she is?

After all, Sebelius’s continuance testifies more eloquently than any attack ad just how far Obama’s beliefs about government and political philosophy are beyond the Middle American mainstream.

Sebelius: "I Don't Work for the People"

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has pointedly stated what has been so obvious about the Obama regime.  She believes that she doesn't work for you and Americans who want her resignation.  She, like her comrades in the Obama regime, sees herself as your ruler, not your servant.  Here she is in her own, bitchy, imperious words:

43 Catholic Institutions File 12 Lawsuits Over the Obama Regime's Assault on Religious Liberty

Kathleen Sebelius, Obama Quisling for Catholic Persecution.
Today 43 Catholic institutions, including the Archdioceses of New York and Washington, D.C., the Catholic University of America and Notre Dame, joined a lawsuit to block implementation of the mandate by the Obama regime that would require them to provide health insurance coverage for surgical sterilization, prescription contraceptives, and drugs that cause early stage abortions.

The Jones Day law firm has filed the suit in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.  (For a complete list of the plaintiffs, click here.)

We deplore the Obama regime's assault on the Catholic Church and its disregard for the Constitution, religious liberty and conscience rights.  Nevertheless, it is wonderful to behold what a whiff of oppression can do to clear political thinking and unite the Church militant in a way that it has not been united for at least a half century.

Onward, Christian soldiers!

Archdiocese Rebukes Georgetown University Invitation to Secretary Sebelius

Her face proclaims her - wicked.
The Archdiocese of Washington has weighed in on Georgetown University’s invitation of U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius as a commencement speaker in clear terms, saying that the school has unmoored itself from Catholic identity and chosen a stance against the country’s Catholic bishops.

Secretary Sebelius is the primary figure behind the HHS mandate forcing religious groups to provide free sterilizations, abortifacient drugs, and other forms of birth control to employees under the new health care law. She is also known for her extreme pro-abortion record, most notably her close ties with late-term abortionist George Tiller during her time as governor of Kansas. She is listed as a commencement speaker at Georgetown’s Public Policy Institute.

More than 16,000 Sign Petition Opposing Sebelius Commencement Speech at Georgetown

The vindictive, cold and hateful Kathleen Sebelius
It is becoming an annual tradition where higher educational institutions, on the fringes of fidelity to the Catholic Church, feel the need to challenge their local bishop by inviting and honoring enemies of the Church at campus commencement ceremonies.  Not to be outdone by the adolescent behavior of Notre Dame in 2009, Georgetown University has landed no less than the Obama administration's point person for Church persecution - the embittered, excommunicated, pro-death champion, Kathleen Sebelius.

The quisling Sebelius has been granted the honor of speaking at a diploma ceremony for Georgetown University’s Public Policy Institute on Friday, May 18.

In light of all that has transpired over the past year, it is hard to understand the mindset of those who claim to be within the Church and yet honor a notorious persecutor, who may yet force the closure of all of the Church's health and social service ministries.  Do they think they will be spared Sebelius' assaults on her former Church?

In response to this offensive move on the part of Georgetown University, the Cardinal Newman Society has posted a petition to protest this outrage here.  The Cardinal Newman Society has also alerted Washington Cardinal Donald Wuerl and sent a letter to Georgetown President John DeGioia urging him to immediately withdraw the invitation.  We hope Georgetown alumni and donors will also make their views clear to university administrators.  This outrageous behavior must be painful to many Georgetown alumni.  Certainly, no faithful Catholic family would jeopardize a son or daughter's faith at such an institution.

In 2008, Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City reportedly told Sebelius, then a Roman Catholic, to stop receiving the Eucharist until she publicly recants her position on abortion and makes a “worthy sacramental confession.”  No road to Damascus conversion has yet been noted.

Congressman Gowdy Exposes the Personal, Ideological Agenda of Kathleen Sebelius

Once again our own Congressman, Trey Gowdy from Upstate South Carolina, has directed his sharp legal mind to the defense of the United States Constitution. Here he exposes that HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius had no Constitutional basis for her contraceptive and abortifacient mandate and assault on religious liberty.

Hate Has An Evil Face

hate has an evil face
a putrid taste
it reeks of weakness
and is such a waste
of human potential
even the sound of the word
has such a harsh tone to it

hate is a cancer on
the face of mankind
it creates havoc
destroying everything
in it's way
yes, hate has a very evil face.

Obama's "Accomodation" is a Cynical Distinction Without a Difference

Sebelius and Obama: moving America toward cold, brutal tyranny
The so called "accommodation" offered people of faith by the Obama regime is a distinction without a difference.  It is a cynical effort to defuse growing national resistance with semantic window-dressing.  Saying that insurance companies will be mandated to provide abortifacients and contraceptives as part of the insurance packages all employers will have to chose from, makes no ethical difference.

As president of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan has decided to see the new regulatory mandate before judging it.  However, on the basis of what Obama and the vengeful, excommunicated Catholic, Kathleen Sebelius, have had to say about it, it should be met with rejection and renewed determination to oppose the Obama regime's trampling of conscience rights and religious liberty.

We would suggest to the American Catholic bishops that they need to stand up for the conscience rights of all Americans, not merely their own institutions.  No insurance company, employer or individual should be compelled by their government to purchase or do anything in violation of their conscience.  Obamacare is a carefully calculated path to an oppressive, jack-booted, police state.  It must be repealed root and stem.  The Obama-Sebelius trampling of religious liberty offers patriots an opportunity to defend our country in a dark hour, restore Constitutional government and ensure that we never again raise up to the highest office in the land an enemy of God-given rights.

Bishop Bruskewitz Calls Sebelius "A Bitter Fallen-Away Catholic"

Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz of the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska, is by far our favorite Catholic bishop in the United States.  He is a man of clear conviction who never fails to heed the counsel of Pope John Paul II, "to call evil by its proper name."

Bruskewitz: Fight insurance ruling
By Leslie Reed
Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz
LINCOLN — Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz has issued a blistering letter calling on Roman Catholics in the Lincoln Diocese to fight a federal decision requiring all employers to provide health insurance that pays for birth control, female sterilization procedures and "the morning after" pill.

U.S. bishops had asked for an exemption from the rule for employers such as Catholic hospitals and social services agencies. That request was denied this month by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, a Catholic.

Now Obama Has Proved It: He Really Is An Enemy of the Catholic Church. But How Will That Affect the 54 Per Cent of Catholics Who Voted for Him Last Time?

Why do I have a sinking feeling about the answer to that question? Someone cheer me up, do

By William Oddie

About a year ago, I wrote a blog entitled “Why Barack Obama has to be seen as an enemy of the Catholic Church”. This was picked up by quite a few American Catholic blogs, for example this one, which reproduced the piece in full; and it attracted much favourable attention: but some of the reactions, also from American Catholics – who presumably were from that shameful 54 per cent of Catholics who voted for Obama – were not favourable.

Obama Offends the Catholic Left

A contraceptive mandate provokes an unnecessary war.

By William McGurn

When Barack Obama secured his party's nomination
for president in 2008, one group of Democrats had special reason to cheer.

These were Democrats who were reliably liberal on policy but horrified by the party's sometimes knee-jerk animosity to faith. The low point may have been the 1992 Democratic convention. There the liberal but pro-life governor of Pennsylvania, Bob Casey Sr., was humiliated when he was denied a speaking slot while a pro-choice Republican activist from his home state was allowed.

With Mr. Obama, all this looked to be in the past. In 2006, the Illinois senator delivered a speech declaring that "secularists are wrong when they ask believers to leave their religion at the door before entering the public square." He followed up by appearing at fund-raisers for the anti-abortion Bob Casey Jr. during Mr. Casey's successful run for Sen. Rick Santorum's senate seat.

Sebelius Called on to Quit Over Planned Parenthood Scandal

By Steven Ertelt

A leading pro-life organization is calling on HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to quit because of a scandal involving the destruction of Planned Parenthood record during her administration as governor of Kansas.

The Obama official has come under heavy fire from pro-life groups who are pointing out how a state attorney general she appointed in Kansas destroyed documents related 107 criminal charges former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline filed against the abortion business. The charges alleged that planned Parenthood failed to report cases of child rape on children on whom Planned Parenthood did abortions, that it failed to test whether an unborn child was viable (as required by state law) before doing a late-term abortion, and that it manipulated records it submitted to the state to cover up those crimes.

Obama's Catholic Strategy in Shambles

Obama's Brownshirts
Father Jay Scott Newman, Pastor of St. Mary's Church in Greenville, South Carolina, had the following important pastoral advice for those Catholics who were foolish enough to vote for their own persecution three years ago.  Now they have no excuse but invincible ignorance.
"Voting for a pro-abortion politician when a plausible pro-life alternative exists constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil, and those Catholics who do so place themselves outside of the full communion of Christ's Church and under the judgment of divine law. Persons in this condition should not receive Holy Communion until and unless they are reconciled to God in the Sacrament of Penance, lest they eat and drink their own condemnation."

By Michael Gerson
In 2009, Notre Dame University set off months of intra-Catholic controversy by inviting a champion of abortion rights to deliver its commencement address. When the day arrived, President Obama skillfully deflated the tension. He extended a "presumption of good faith" to his pro-life opponents. Then he promised Catholics that their pro-life convictions would be respected by his administration. "Let's honor the conscience of those who disagree with abortion," he said, "and draft a sensible conscience clause, and make sure that all of our health care policies are grounded not only in sound science, but also in clear ethics, as well as respect for the equality of women."

Newspaper: HHS Leadership Overruled Staff in Denying Funding to Bishops’ Agency

The sweet irony in this story is that if one had taken a stroll through the parking lot of the corrupt, liberal, staff-run United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in 2008, one would have seen many more bumper stickers for Barack Hussein Obama than for John McCain.  Unfortunately, they will be useful idiots in the next election cycle too.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius
In declining to renew a grant to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Migration and Refugee Services to aid victims of human trafficking, the leadership of the US Department of Health and Human Services [HHS] overruled its own staff, according to The Washington Post.
“Political appointees at HHS stepped in to award the new grants to the bishops’ competitors, overriding an independent review board and career staffers who had recommended that the bishops be funded again, according to federal officials and internal HHS documents,” the Post reported, adding:
The decision not to fund the bishops this time has caused controversy inside HHS. A number of career officials refused to sign documents connected to the grant, feeling that the process was unfair and politicized, individuals familiar with the matter said. Their concerns have been reported to the HHS inspector general’s office … The applications of [two grant winners] were scored significantly below the Catholic bishops by the review panel, the individuals familiar with the matter said …

HHS political appointees this spring became involved in reshaping the request for proposals, adding a “strong preference” for applicants offering referrals for family planning and the “full range” of “gynecological and obstetric care.’’ That would include abortions and birth control …

Some HHS staffers objected to the involvement of the secretary’s office, saying the goal was to exclude the Catholic bishops, individuals familiar with the matter said.
